Dear Alchemists,
Over the past several weeks, we have been carefully walking through the Principle of Mentalism as presented in The Kybalion.
We began with the foundational assertion: All is Mind.
We then expanded into the Mental Universe, loosening our grip on the idea of a fixed and solid reality.
Lastly, we stabilized through The Divine Paradox, learning that while the Universe may be mental in nature, we must still live fully and responsibly upon the plane we inhabit.
Chapter Seven brings this exploration to its quiet completion.
It asks a refining question: If All is Mind, what then is our relationship to The All?
The text offers a subtle but essential clarification. We exist within The All. The All is present within us. And yet, we are not the totality of The All.
This may seem like a small distinction, but it is not.
When Mentalism is glimpsed without integration, the ego can distort it in two directions. One inflates: “I am the Absolute.” The other diminishes: “I am separate and powerless.” Chapter Seven corrects both.
If All is Mind, then we are thoughts within that Mind. We are expressions, not the entirety. Participatory, not separate. Contained, yet infused.
This resolves the tension introduced in The Divine Paradox.
We do not deny the world.
We do not escape the plane.
We do not pretend to be beyond law.
Instead, we recognize that our individuality exists within a greater Whole. The wave belongs to the ocean, yet it is not the entire sea.
There is humility here.
And there is profound security.
Mentalism, when fully integrated, does not make us float.
It stabilizes identity.
It teaches us that reality is mental in essence, that our state of consciousness shapes experience, and that we exist within a vast and orderly Mind.
And this naturally leads to the next question.
If The All expresses through levels…
If we exist within a layered Mental Universe…
If identity is stabilized within that structure…
How do these levels relate to one another?
If everything exists within The All, then the patterns present on one plane must echo on another.
This brings us directly to the next great Hermetic axiom:
As above, so below; as below, so above. (The Planes of Correspondence, Chapter 8 in The Kybalion. Also known as the Universal Law of Correspondence.)
But before we move there, it is worth pausing to recognize what we have just completed.
This is the arc you now have:
Mentalism → Reality is Mind.
Mental Universe → Reality is fluid.
Divine Paradox → Live the plane you inhabit.
The All in Everything → Identity stabilized within Mind.
Correspondence (next) → Patterns repeat across planes.
That is structurally airtight.
We have not abandoned the world.
We have not dissolved into abstraction.
We have clarified our place within a living Whole.
Next, we step into the Principle of Correspondence…how the macro reflects in the micro, how inner mirrors outer, and how understanding this law gives us practical leverage in everyday life.
