Dear Alchemists,
“The lips of wisdom are closed, except to the ears of understanding.”
As we step into this new year, I want to open a doorway—one that we will walk through together over the coming months. In early 2026, we’ll begin a deep dive into The Kybalion, a book that distills timeless Hermetic wisdom into a modern articulation.
The Corpus Hermeticum, a collection of writings from the 1st–3rd century CE, carries teachings that echo across millennia. Yet for many modern readers, its language and symbolism can feel distant. The Kybalion, published in 1908, takes these same perennial truths and offers them in a form more accessible to contemporary consciousness…an echo of truths that do not belong to any era, only to levels of understanding.
The origins of The Kybalion are somewhat nebulous. Attributed to the mysterious “Three Initiates,” its precise authorship remains unknown. And yet, its clarity is striking. Its timing feels exact. Its teachings are poignant, practical, and profoundly aligned with those who are ready to perceive the underlying laws governing reality itself.
In Chapter 3 of my book, Alchemic Healings — “My Process: The Laws of Reality”, I share how A Course in Miracles first introduced me to the radical idea that my thoughts create my reality. Through that lens, I began to recognize that I was living within a kind of matrix and that my emotions were not passive experiences, but signals capable of influencing the outcomes I encountered within it. I learned that the key to creation lay in forgiveness and the release of limiting beliefs, clearing space for new possibilities to emerge.
It wasn’t until this understanding truly sank in that I could fully appreciate the beauty of The Kybalion and its emphasis on Hermetic philosophy. It offered me a deeper, more structural understanding of the universal laws at play. I found myself particularly fascinated by the Principle of Correspondence, which illuminated the non-linear nature of creation itself. The universe, I realized, is a mirror, reflecting the internal to the external and the external back to the internal.
In many ways, The Kybalion became my introductory course in reality-building. My “aha” moment wasn’t about escaping the matrix. It was about recognizing that I was already in one and that I was a conscious participant in creating it. The goal, then, is not transcendence through avoidance, but mastery through awareness: to create the most divine, loving, and coherent construct possible for ourselves.
At the heart of The Kybalion are seven fundamental principles, which form the foundation of Hermetic and occult philosophy:
- Mentalism – All is mind; reality arises from consciousness.
- Correspondence – As within, so without; as above, so below.
- Vibration – Nothing rests; everything moves and resonates.
- Polarity – Opposites are two extremes of the same thing.
- Rhythm – Life unfolds in cycles and tides.
- Cause and Effect – Nothing happens by chance; every effect has a cause.
- Gender – Masculine and feminine principles generate creation in all realms.
In the upcoming newsletters, we will explore these principles one by one (one principle per newsletter) …not merely as concepts, but as living laws you can observe, embody, and work with consciously in your daily life.
This is not about accumulating knowledge. It is about cultivating the ears of understanding, the inner readiness that allows wisdom to reveal itself naturally.
With love and reverence,
Denise Perez
